The above is a brief introduction to diy groot costume

Let's move on to the first section of diy groot costume

Making my Groot costume

Making my Groot costume

so I started my group costume by making,a Corso frame out of moldable plastic it,was helpful for visualizing where pieces, should be placed but later on I ended up,actually tossing the whole frame which, you'll see later then I made a onesie, out of real tree hunting fabric and made, the sleeves and legs extra long I had to,learn how to work with foam for this, costume and it was a good project to,start with because Groot doesn't need to,have any perfect rounded shapes and, scenes like an armor I used three, different thicknesses of foam for all,the body parts I carved all the details, with a dremel and cut pieces with razor, blades or scissors so my first attempt,at gloves was already a fail I traced my,friend's hand made a little bit bigger,my fingers are down here I can't even, get it on my hands and has are bigger, than mine so for gloves you really need,to make a way bigger especially if the, fabric isn't super stretchy the, stretches a little bit so I made a new, pattern and I had my male friend try it,on and it fit me it's really big,it's supposed to be big so yeah that, works,I made this thin detail for the gloves, and painted them here's me placing parts,on the frame I could have actually kept, the frame but it was a bit heavy and, awkward because it didn't Bend much I,got these seven inch men's platform, shoes from eBay and covered them with, the hunter fabric later I added painted, and carved pieces of foam my friend,Oliver came by and let me try pieces of,foam around his arms and legs to see how,big they should be,I spray-painted the pieces with dark, brown paint and primer and then dry, brush then with its tan color I decided,at this point to velcro pieces to the, ones you rather didn't have the plastic, frame for the eyes I glued sunglass, lenses to a thinner piece of foam, here's my friend just as trying on the,one zine masking shoes for the hood I,had to make a flap to make sure the neck, and bottom of the chin recovered, these are arm pieces that are heated and, bent to stay curved I have painted a lot,of layers and colors on all the foam, pieces tan medium brown olive and green, this is some preserved moss that I hot, glued to some of the bigger foam pieces,my roommate helped me out by putting on,the costume as I place the pieces of,velcro in the fabric and foam pieces so,we went to WonderCon these conventions, really end up being like an art show for,all of us - like making costumes and, they're a lot of fun see you at the next, one

DIY Groot costume | Guardians of the Galaxy Cosplay | Beeisforbeeauty

DIY Groot costume | Guardians of the Galaxy Cosplay | Beeisforbeeauty

hi guys welcome back to my channel in,today's video I'm going to show you how,to recreate this entire group costume, inspired by guardians of the galaxy I,did make both the Groot in the rocket, costumes so I'll have two videos one on,each and I'll post the link for the, rocket costume in the description box, down below if you want to check that one,out as well so we're gonna jump right in,to get started you're going to need it,some EVA foam so these are actually the, same foam that's used in like a gym or a,yoga studio if those little flight foam, tile pieces for your floor but this is,what you're going to use for the face, and body it doesn't matter what color, you use I picked up a ton of the color, grade because I figured it would be the, easiest to paint on and put any markings,on but again you are gonna paint over it,so it really doesn't matter so the first, thing I did was actually measure my face,I'm gonna create rough markings and sort,of a sketch to work off of first to,create my mask so using the measurements,of my face I'm gonna place these and, sketch out the full mask on this flat, piece of foam keep in mind when you cut,it out you are going to make it 3d and, connect edge to edge to give it that, round a cylinder look then you can use, scissors or a knife or your dremel to,cut this out I'll have all the products, that I used listed in the description, box as well as direct links to shop, those if you want to pick anything up,that I mentioned in this video next I'm,gonna start creating some rough details,so using that same exacto knife I'm,going to create more detail on the face, and this is just going to act sort of as,a little guide because I will be using, the Dremel to do all of the detail this, just shows me where I want the deeper, and more intricate areas to be,so now using my Dremel I'm gonna use, different bits for this and again, everything will be listed down below but,I'm going to start creating the texture,of the bark and you're going to use, different bits to create the different, depths in size for the markings so some,of it is going to be more of a deeper, cut tan others again are going to be,more of like sanding kind of grinding, down the thickness of this foam was, actually perfect to create that real, intricate texture sort of like a,layering process so take your time with, this you're going to need a lot of,patience but it's actually pretty easy,to do once you get the hang of it you,can see there's many times throughout, this process where I actually use a,pencil or a pen to give markings rather, than just cutting right away this just, helps me visualize better where I want, the detail to be so because you are, painting over the foam the pen and, pencil markings don't really matter it's,more of a safety net to sketch out first, then cut second sort of like the saying, measure twice cut once so you can see, here it starts to come to life with the, different layering and texturing process,I actually did find two pieces of bark, from my own backyard,to use as inspiration to for the, texturing itself and the coloring,so using multiple shades of Browns I'm,just going to start to paint the mask of,course like highlighting contouring, shading you're going to be using the, lighter colors to bring forward in,darker colors to push back if you are, trying to create more depth, you,so to get the masks to stay on again I'm,a mine so you can wrap it around itself,if you do want to just do the front of,the mask you could of course add elastic,on the back to keep it up but I wanted, the back of the costume and mask to also, match the front so to do that I just, extended at the back and added velcro so,you can open and close it and again it,just continues the detail all the way, around so these were actually,self-adhesive,sticker stick on pieces of velcro that I,cut but I did end up gluing them with a,hot glue gun to keep them really secure,so I noticed adult GRU also has like, moss on the bark so I'm going to use, this fake moss from a craft store and,I'm going to hot glue this on as well as,using different shades of green paint, and brown in different areas just kind,of mimicking what I found on Google when, looking him up or you could of course, watch the movie while you're making it,too,so here's what we have so far with the, face and it's pretty much done you can,see I also took out some of the inside,of the face here for the nose to go this, just makes it more comfortable to wear,so moving on to the body we're gonna, follow similar steps I'm just going to,kind of sketch out and label where I,want each piece to be and I did end up,doing this sort of like a puzzle which, honestly I can't say for sure was the, smartest thing to do you could of course,do like a full vest so a front piece of,back piece you know kind of like figure, pieces rather than puzzling a bunch of,smaller pieces that's completely up to,you but I decided to go balls to the, wall and try to make the pieces similar,to what the shapes of his literally, piece by piece,I also use the edges of the foam which, you can see here and cut off the little, puzzle pieces to make these more like, vines because he does have these all, throughout his legs and arms as well, they also make great pieces to fill in,any sections of the puzzle that aren't,quite matching up so we're just going to,follow the same steps as we did with the, face sanding these down grinding these, down creating a nutbar texture then, again adding the layers of paint and, again you can glue on some moss, then round three is going to be the same, steps this time for the legs so these I,actually did more of a triangular shape,to piece together like so,so to physically attach the body pieces,I actually used a real vest so this is,well old best that we used as a base to,hold on and secure the pieces the back I,ended up just doing one giant piece, because I'm telling you after so many, rounds of doing puzzle pieces it's a lot,so the bigger the piece you can do the, easier it is to attach like so and you,can add of course a bunch of detail or,build on top of bigger base pieces so,again the back I just did one giant, piece then two securities I used a hot, glue gun fabric glue and ribbon to,attach these to the vest each of the, pieces that were smaller puzzle pieces I,glued together with a hot glue gun and, then to fill in any area that you could, see the glue I just use paint and Moss, for other areas such as the shoulder, legs and feet parts I used elastic on,the back so you can see the top and, bottom here the top of course just looks,as normal and on the back again just to,secure and hide I use pieces of elastic, and these are just the arms and legs, coming together again using that paper, towel to bond any area that needs more, flexibility or may have cracked and then, using ribbon this helps to keep the, rounded shape while it's drying you, could of course also use rubber bands or,elastic this is worn over top of a black, bodysuit which you can use paint to fill,in such as the hands or you could just, apply mittens or gloves that you also, use paint on as well as the moss to give,it that 3d texture the EVA foam is,awesome to work with it's super flexible, you can use heat or pressure to create, different shapes so it was really easy,to actually bond and rounded these out,to fit the body these here are the parts, that we ended up using for his arms so,these we just slid on but this is,everything once it is applied and put on,so that was everything on how I put, together this group costume I hope you, guys enjoyed it if you did be sure to,give it a thumbs up don't forget to,check out the description box for more, information as well as the link to watch, the rocket costumes as always thank you, guys so much for watching my videos make, sure Halloween Costume DIY BABY GROOT MASK Costume

Halloween Costume DIY BABY GROOT MASK Costume

hey everybody gonna show you guys today, how I made this baby Groot mask for,Halloween it was really fun to do I,think it's super authentic looking gonna, show you everything that you need I'm,also going to give the mask away so if,you guys can comment subscribe and like, tell me what would maybe be a good idea, for the body or what you're going to be,for Halloween I'm going to be following, the comments up until about five days, before Halloween and then I'll mail the, mask out so check out the video make, sure you subscribe comment and like and,you might win this mask, items that you will need to make the, baby Groot mask include some brown paper, bags a craft mask found that at a dollar, store some arts and crafts wooden craft, sticks some green pipe cleaners and I,got this piece of Mossy looking green, fiber stuff from a craft store some, craft glue, and you can use either an old straw hat,or I found one at a dollar store or some,Raffia will work as well and an exact, donate a pair of scissors a pencil and I,found these little Sprouts of leaves, also at a dollar store just one of my,little Finishing Touches,we're going to use this craft mask it,was the perfect shape to make baby Groot, and we just have to do a few minor, modifications to it which obviously, include taking out the nose so I'm going,to do that with an exacto knife show you,how to do that I am going to draw a line, where we are going to cut out the nose, with an X-Acto Knife and we're also, going to have to cut out the eyes a,little bit just to get the more of a,baby Groot shape, foreign, and cut out the mouth, and then we are just going to cut out,all those lines using an X-Acto Knife, foreign, now that I have everything cut out I,need to fill this middle section here, and he's got sort of a curved middle, section so I'm going to soak these craft, sticks in order to get a curved shape, but first I'm going to cut them to size,so I'm gonna cut it from there to there,I need one and a half to fill this space, then I find the easiest way to cut these, craft sticks is with an X-Acto Knife, just to score them, and then if you take a pair of pliers, you can just break that up,and then one of those is going to be cut,in half, now in order to be a,ble to be a bet give these a bit of a,Bend I'm going to just soak them in some, water, and just set that aside for probably, about 25 minutes now while I have my,winning craft stick soaking I'm going to,cut some of the wooden sticks to do the,top part of groot's head so I'm just, working from a picture to get the, likeness of the different lengths and,I'm just going to do the same thing, basically with these and cut some of the, sticks to varying lengths and various, shapes and sizes, and I'm going to come back to my two, sticks that are soaking in the water and,I've got a little teacup here and this,is going to just help me bend them and, keep the shape so I'm going to just bend,it a bit by hand and then tuck it in to,the cup here just like that and then,we're going to let it dry,I am going to start making the top of,groot's head I'm just following a,picture of him,and we're going to make sure that, they're going on just at the top of the, forehead there, foreign, paper bags and I'm just going to cut, them up in strips and roll them up in,balls to fill the top part of the head, here,we are going to fill the back of the top, part of the head where it's like a tree, going up and to do that I'm just going,to put some glue on all these little, brown paper bag balls that I've rolled,up and we'll start filling it,just to give it some density and then,I'm going to show you what I'm going to,do at the top with,so we'll just get it all filled up,stuff them in,now that we have that all filled we are, going to flip it over and let that dry I,want to fill this section right here now, with our curved popsicle sticks that,we've had sitting in this cup and, they're dry so they're going to hold, their shape this gives the real Groot, front you know no section where his nose, should be the proper look because it,Curves in a bit and we're just going to,glue down these two popsicle sticks to,fill that middle section, and then we'll do the second one just, fit it in right there right beside, the other one and just make sure that,we're not covering the eyes there, and we are going to use some of those, similar rolled up paper bag balls but,I've flattened them and I'm going to be,adding them to the tips of the wooden, craft sticks and this is all going to be,Blended in in our next step so again,it's going to look not quite accurate, yet but we are getting there there's,going to be Moss added to the top of,these, and we'll just do them for all of them, well I'm waiting for all of that to dry,I'm going to move my mask aside and I am,going to start the process of cutting my,straw hat I've already got some cut off,and so it's just a matter of cutting off,the edge and taking out all the pieces, just going to get some more cut and then,we're going to start gluing them down on,the mask, now that I have a nice big pile I'm just, going to cut these into some smaller, pieces just to make it easier to work, with them to straighten them out,and that should be enough to start out, with, and now we're going to just start gluing, these all down you're going to see it,come together it's going to look really, cool, foreign, the eyes and the mouth as you can see, here I'm just letting the pieces hang, off and just want to show you guys what,I'm doing with them so pulling, everything up on the inside nice and, tight and then gluing it down and then, that is just giving me a nice clean look,on the other side, thank you,now that we have all of that laid down,on the mask I'm super happy with it I,think it looks very authentic I'm going,to show you guys how to do the moss on,the top of the Mask so we're going to,put some glue, just some of our white craft glue into a,bowl here and then I've got a paint, brush and I'm going to dab some of the, glue on,so again just referring to a picture of,Baby Groot and then I'm taking a bright, green pipe cleaner and I'm just going to,trim the fluffy part and let it fall, onto the glue and we're going to sort of,texturize that with a darker pipe, cleaner, and I got this piece of Mossy looking, green fiber stuff from a craft store, where you can get materials for model, train sets and that sort of thing so I,thought this was a nice authentic color,to mix into all of that, foreign, foreign,so now that I have all the Moss finished,on the top of groot's mask very happy, with that I found these fake leaves with, these buds on the top at a dollar store, and I'm going to clip off the buds and, they're just like the ones that are, sticking up at the top of groot's head,so I'm going to need two of those, for the one side and we are going to,glue them into the top just so you can,see them right out here, then one more,we want it,and I'm gonna stick that one coming out, here,I am doing with a brown pencil crayon, the line like the lower and upper lid, that's around great side it's so just, adding some definition there just with, the brown pencil crayon, foreign, and then the very last Finishing Touch I,got a cheap pair of sunglasses from the, dollar store and I'm just going to pop,the lens out groot's got these really, shiny brown black eyes so I thought this, would be a good way to mimic that, and what we're going to do is right down, the middle of this lens I'm going to,score it with my exacto knife just like,I'm cutting it right in half, and then if you take a pair of pliers be,careful just cut that right in half, and that's all we really need of it,and we're going to flip our mask over, you guys will get to see what the inside,of the mask looks like and I'm going to,put glue, all around the edge of the eye,and then we're just going to put each, one in,one at a time,so there you go guys Baby Groot mask was, really fun to do hope you guys enjoyed, that video again don't forget to comment, subscribe and like the video gonna give, this mask away gonna be following all,the comments see what some of your,Halloween costume ideas are and now all,we have to do is try it on Jackson, thank you

Groot Cosplay Tutorial Part 6 Chest and Back

Groot Cosplay Tutorial Part 6 Chest and Back

hi YouTube this is part 6 of my group, build tutorial this is the chest and, back details so when I reach this point,in the build I figured out that I would, make several chest pieces to match up,with the screen captures that I observed,in the movie guardians of the galaxy so,de Groot as closely they could try to,make some pieces that match up with the, pieces I could see in the film I cut out,the pieces from anti-fatigue mat and, then use my Dremel to cut to carve small, ridges in each piece you can see here I,sort of drew the direction I wanted the,the lines to go I didn't put all the, details with the marker but I did draw, sort of the direct general direction I,wanted them to go you can see here I,just added a little bit little by little, adding more and more lines to get more, and more detail and I did this for each, piece I also used a heat gun to shape, the pieces as I finish them,I sort of rounded them off a bit and, tried to match up with what looked like, groots musculature so here you see the, pieces glued to the sweatshirt and then,I just continued with adding more vines, and building the just continuing to,build the details from there once they, have those chests places in peace,I knew that I had to start making the, musculature of the vines for the, shoulders and arms and I figured that to,do this I drew on the sweatshirt itself, with a marker and sort of indicated, where I thought the bicep should go and, where the tricep would go where the the, different muscle groups might look the, deltoids the Schult you know in the, shoulder and I just sort of started to,shape the vines in those directions to,match natural you know musculature of a,humanoid so then you can see here just, hides kept moving forward adding more, and more details and then I I did, eventually realize that I needed to make, those pieces smaller so I started to,shape those upper, shoulder areas you'll see the pieces, start to get smaller and smaller the, ones that I add in to fill in the gaps, are to create that density and also to,make it more tree like where they narrow, towards the top the pieces just continue,to get a little bit smaller as I go up,towards the neck there the collarbone, and the neck and then here they jump, forward a little bit with a progress, photo where you see a lot more detail, and I have one where I actually put it,on and you can kind of see where it,winds up on my body without the legs, they're just the upper half and then, here it is with a little bit of paint I,get into my next video I'll explain more, about the paint process and how I finish,up the details on this project so hope, this is helping I hope you're enjoying,my video series on groups build tutorial, thanks for watching and subscribe
