Tin Man DIY DOLLAR TREE Halloween Custom!! Wizard of oz!

this tin man costume turned out super, adorable if you would like to see how to,make it continue watching originally, supposed to be for the little guy who is,Robin but he decided he didn't want to,wear it last minute so you could see,he's wearing those little silver shoes, and his big brother wore the outfit, right here at the dollar store shopping, for items I picked up the axe one of,these red buckets I got those stickers I,got the little funnel and the rest of,the stuff I either had or I got from,Home Depot first we're just gonna take, out the handle next we're going to use, this saw that I had and just cut it in,half the hole that you actually just saw,I actually did that first by using a,knife I poked down and then circled, around to make that hole it may have, been easier to do it after but you can,do it before like I did or after up to,you now that I broke through the thick, part of the plastic is easier to use the, scissors here's Justin's being silly, and here comes Tommy now I'm just, working on the other side,we're just repeating here the same thing,we did on the other side, now that this part is complete I'm going,to line it up to see where I should make, the armholes I cut the first part out,now on to the other side, this right here is a dryer duct for your, dryer vent you can go to Lowe's or Home,Depot and get it for about four bucks, you could ask the employees there what, aisle you can get it down I'm kind of,pushing in on the sides because it is a,little sharp I do know they have ones, that are softer so if you find them then, you might want to pick them up right, here you'll see I'm taping a few pieces, together,hi Dracula,if you stay to the end you'll see a,dollar tree a Dracula look I think that, you're really gonna love it okay so now, that I have all the pieces taped, together you're gonna see right here I'm,cutting it into a heart now that I'm,done I'm going to line it up to see, where I want to place it on the red, bucket I felt that it was necessary to,get a pool noodle from the Dollar Tree,to place it on places I thought that was,a little sharp so we're gonna hot glue,it right over here on some sharp areas I,slightly sliced a line down the middle,of the foam that way I could just warm,it nice and easy against the plastic, you'll see right here, hugs Tommy as you can see here he was, never really a big fan that's why his,big brother ended up wearing the Tin Man,costume, this is the knife I'm going to use to,make holes on every side of the bucket,so that way when I put the string, through I could easily tie it on Justin, right before he wears it as you can see, here I did four on this side and four on,the other side so I made eight holes, total I noticed a little sharp edge over, there so I'm going to take a little bit,of the pool noodle and I'm going to hot, glue it on to the corner,I made two holes here and you can either, attach a string inside and make it go,underneath the kids chin or you can add,say a hair tie or something that you can, eventually attach on to the bobby pin,and to your child's hair that's what I,did,- spray-paint we are needed the other, one and here we have the Tin Man from,The Wizard of Oz again tommy was, supposed to wear it so he's wearing the, silver shoes that we spray-painted but,it all worked out,and it looks absolutely adorable and, right here next this is another look, that we have going on,it's Count Dracula and this was all, purchased stuff from the Dollar Tree

DIY Dorothy, Glinda, and the Tin Man Costumes!

DIY Dorothy, Glinda, and the Tin Man Costumes!

happy halloween, that's so annoying, okay,it's always best to start at the, beginning and all you do is follow the, yellow brick room, hello i have a i am mr mrs,jack-o-lantern,well,i'm a green i'm a baby green pumpkin, that doesn't make any sense, okay anyway,um hi guys so today i'm really excited, because i'm going to be sharing the, halloween costume that wes and i are, going to be doing this year so last year,we were jessie and woody from toy story, and it was really fun and i made our, entire costumes from thrifted items so,the big reveal,we're gonna be dorothy and the tin man, insert cheering we decided that we were, going to be dorothy me and wes is going,to be the tin man which i'm really, excited about because my entire life i,have been obsessed with the wizard of oz,so this is very on brand for me so in,this video i'm going to show you exactly, how i'm going to diy our entire costumes, with a lot of thrifted items also my,sister decided to visit me this week and,so,come on in emily, get, yes, emily who you're gonna be from the, wizard of oz i am going to be glinda,i've always loved linda's costume partly, because it's pink and i love the color, pink so when i came to visit amy and she,was like you need a halloween costume i,was like i can be glinda it'll fit the, theme it'll be super cute we're gonna, break down costume by costume all the, thrifted items that went into each, costume and then we're gonna roll into, the footage the many many many hours, you're gonna see it really, really quick um but the many hours that,it took us to make each costume and i,will break down each element so if you, wanted to make this costume for yourself, this video is going to be posted, approximately four days before halloween,so get started, first costume let's start with the, glinda costume perfect okay so we were, looking for a pink dress and her dress,is kind of like a light pink with, shimmery silver accents the first thrift, store we went to found a possibility and,we decided to go for it yes even though,it's not exactly the same color i think,it's gonna work really well you gotta, use your imagination yeah so this is the, dress that we found it's definitely a,darker pink it has some like purpley, tones to it there are shoulder pads and,the sleeves are kind of poofy and it's,oversized so it has that kind of like, poofy feel i love the puff sleeve look, and the skirt here was also long enough, that i felt like it's not a full-length,ball gown but it's going to look like, linda i'm not saying that might be,difficult to find and that's what i,thought basically broke her costume down,by the elements so she has a pink dress, she has the big crown she has the wand, she has a butterfly necklace and then, like emily said silver accents on the, dress so we got the dress we can do,stuff with that then we ran to michael's,and we found these crafting supplies for,her wand and crown so we got dowel rods, for the wand handle we also picked up,this metallic silver spray paint,um for the wonky silver yeah so we're,going to be using this for the wand and,we're going to be using this for the 10,man costume, and then we got this awesome paper,it's amazing so glinda if you don't know, you should know but if you don't know, glenda's got like a,pharaoh's,hat kind of a crown,we got three of these so that we can use,two for the crown and then one for the, butterflies and the star on the top, number one did i say happy wednesday at,the beginning of this video i don't,think so i'm so sorry happy wednesday, how we start my videos happy wednesday,um it is tuesday, and not wednesday and our trump retreat, event is on saturday,so we,need to get it somewhere saturday so,that's why we're kind of in a crunch so,now that we've shown you the elements, for glenda's costume here is all of the, footage of us making the costume you can,see how we put it together so for this, costume we use glittery foam with a,sticky stuff on the back so you could, peel something off and i just took two, sheets of that and i cut a shape along, the top that looked like her crown in,the pictures and then we just taped, those two pieces together and i cut, another little decal shape for the front, because there's a point that comes down, over her forehead so yeah literally two, sheets fit my head perfectly we taped, them together, rounded them and it turned into a,perfect crown and then for the wand we,spray painted, two different, long thin pieces of wood, and we glued and taped them together, then spray painted over it,and then i used the same foam to cut out,two matching star shapes one thing that,i did that really helped to draw the, butterflies in the stars i drew a circle, first and i could use the circle to make, sure that everything was the same shape, and size all the way around so it was a,little more symmetrical just from free, handing it,the dress was 5.99 at a thrift store so,it was the perfect price and then what,we decided to do was get some a glittery, tool that was a lighter color to overlay,it so it was closer to glenda's actual, dress color the one in the film has like,a v-neck with tulle and then the silver, gem and the dress that i found had more,of a boat neck but i i went ahead and, just kept it because i could have, changed it to a v but i liked it the way,it was it's kind of like an older 80s,silhouette kind of look and i really, like that so i went with that i ended up,gathering tulle and sewing it around the, waist for the skirt and then i took the, rest of the tool and i draped it i cut a,slit in the middle pulled it over my,head, and then i draped pinned and sewed it,so that it laid in a nice way on the, front and then also gathered on the back, and there was some over my arms so that, was how i attached all of the tulle and, then for the final step i took a bunch,of the extra sticky silver glitter foam, from the crown and the wand and i cut it,into stars and butterflies and stuck, them all over the dress once it was on,so i could see where they would lay,and that is basically all i did for the, glinda costume so i'm really happy with, how it turned out i thought it was cute, and it was really fun to be glinda this, halloween, and we're back so now let's break down, the tin man's costume the tin man you, could get like super creative and like, cover your whole body with silver, things to make it look like a tin man,but basically what we're gonna do i,really hope this turns out i think it,will here's what we've got for the tin,man first off wes has a pair of gray, pants that he's just gonna wear and he,has grey shoes so,bottom half's covered then we went to tj,maxx and i just found this long-sleeved,gray shirt that's like a waffle material,it does not matter what the material is,7.99 and he's just gonna wear this, underneath of,the tin man torso which,is giant box, this giant box, which is from when we moved it's,originally from old navy, basically what i'm going to do is i'm,going to turn the box this way,i can't even see,and it's too big his head's going to,come out this side his arms are going to,come out,so i'm going to cut,i'm going to cut holes everywhere that,he needs and then i'm going to have it,so that the front, swings open for when he gets his heart,so that's his torso and we have the, metallic spray paint from michaels that,we're going to be using on this really, hoping this looks good because it could, look really not good that's the thing, with halloween costumes you just have to,embrace the diy aspect yeah i was hoping,to find like a funnel to spray paint to,like put on its head because tin man has, like a kind of funnel hat situation and,we didn't find one um so i'm gonna make, that out of paper and then spray paint,it because it doesn't have to be like an,actual funnel, but make some kind of pointy hat that is,the tin man, idea that i have in my head it needs a,little bit of finesse, hopefully that finesse will occur in the, crafting process so here is how i made, the tin man costume hi guys,so for the tin man this is what we have, the box so we taped the front together,so that it's flushed and we removed a,lot of the tape in the hopes that, the paint won't be weird when it's on,the tape so now we're going to do is cut,out the neck hole so what i've done,is i've just, done a little scooby scoop shape for the, neck, and we're going to cut it out with the, exacto knife, now do the armholes, one second, okay the first coat is done it actually, gave really good coverage and i think it,looks super cute so now i'm just gonna, let this dry for about 30 minutes to,make sure it's,settled into the cardboard and then,we'll come back and we'll do a second, coat,so to make the tin man's heart i used, felt i cut out two red hearts of felt, and then a small white circle and a,slightly larger yellow circle,i drew a clock face onto the white, circle and then used my sewing machine,to sew all the pieces together, and then stuff the heart and made a,little hanger, for the torso of the tin man i made a,little flap on the front that when you, opened it there was a cut out where i,could hang the little plushy heart, inside and i jerry-rigged this little, button situation so that it could open, and close, for the hat i ended up just making this, out of paper and then spray painted it,silver and spray paint covers up a world,of hurt so it actually looked pretty, cute um i just taped a cone out of paper, and then a cylinder out of paper, and then a little circle on the top, glued and taped it all together and then, spray painted it and this is how the, costume turned out west looked adorable, and it was super cute, and we're back for the final costume,so i saved the best for last not the, best but like, the most iconic is the best the first, item that you need of course is her, dress her iconic blue gingham dress so i,found this and it is a very long skirt,so it's probably ankle length on me,because i'm kind of short so i'm going,to make her dress out of this and the, thing is making your own dress kind of a,big endeavor you do not have to do that, you could just find a blue dress wear it,you could buy a costume dress they sell, them so i actually made a dress about a,month and a half ago and it was kind of,based on dorothy's dress and it was made,of purple material we're kind of gonna, follow that same, idea with this dress so the plan is i'm,gonna cut the skirt off at the knees and, then i'm gonna have all this extra, fabric to make the top and then i,already have some cream fabric from my,previous dress endeavor to make the puff, sleeves and the shirt part,so that's gonna take a while,it's gonna be hard i'm gonna try to show, you as much as possible how i'm making, the dress but i do not have a pattern,i'm just literally making it,off of measuring myself measuring other, dresses that fit me making it work i'm,not using a pattern so,i can't really help you out there but, they do sell patterns for, dorothy's dress so you could definitely, use pattern then she wears blue socks so,we found these,at,t.j.maxx yes so,obviously these are like knee-high socks, which is not what we want i thought it,would be really cute number one this was, like a really good color, and it has these cute little ruffles at,the end so basically what i'm going to,do is i'm going to like take i'm going,to cut the sock off where i want it and, then sew the ruffle down here so that,it's like a short ruffle i think that, that'll be really cute and kind of add,to the costume look,it's going to work i think it's going to,work i think it's going to be really, cute and these were only 199 from tj,maxx we can move on to the shoes i,really lucked out at the same goodwill,we found emily's dress and i found these, vintage heels it's got like a short heel, which is perfect for dorothy's style,a little bit of a pointy toe these were,429 from goodwill on our michael's run,we grabbed this glitter blast cherry, bomb spray paint which is pretty much, the best thing ever because it's,glitter spray paint pretty excited about, this so i'm going to spray paint the, shoes and these are honestly really cute, shoes how they are,we're just going to make them even cuter,by glitter blasting them the last part,of dorothy's costume is of course her, little basket so in the movie she has, more of a picnic style basket but i,found this one at goodwill and i just, thought it was really cute and simple, and it worked so it was 3.99 so i got, this little guy i did look at little dog, stuffed animals to put inside but i,didn't see any that like, perfect so i didn't get one so i may or,may not buy a little dog stuffed animal,to put in here but that's an option, those are the materials for the costumes,we got a lot going on making three, costumes in five days, here's how i made dorothy,so now for the dorothy costume started, off with the shoes i just spray painted, them with the glitter balm red spray, paint which was a lot of fun and i ended,up using the entire can just to make, sure it was an opaque coat and then i,went back after they were dry and i used,a paint brush to paint on modge podge to,seal it in and the shoes ended up kind,of cracking throughout the night when i,wore them so i kind of wish i hadn't mod, podged them i don't know if that would, have made a difference or not when i got,up this morning and looked outside i,genuinely thought someone had been, murdered on my patio, from spray paint carnage, just fun halloween things, for the, dress i made it out of the skirt so at,first i put the skirt on and then cut,the bottom off where i wanted it,re-hemmed the skirt this process is,really hard to explain because i don't,really have any clear-cut steps i'm not,a professional seamstress i don't really, know how to make clothes i just do it so,i made a pattern piece out of some brown, paper that i had because i was trying to,make sure that i would have some kind of,structure for this i made a bodice out,of the cream fabric and then i made puff, sleeves and i'll link the video that i,use to help me make puff sleeves because,it's really good, after i made all that i had to sew in a,zipper and then add the blue part on the, front so emily really really helped me,in this part she basically pinned the, blue part onto me while i was wearing, the, undershirt and then i could just hand, sew it around the edges and then, sew on the straps and then sew down the, straps and add the buttons on the front, and,i did not, actually end up making it into a dress, because i ran out of time,so i just wore the top and tucked it the, unfinished edges into the skirt and no,one was the wiser in the future when i,have you know spare time i will finish, the top and or sew it to the skirt i'm,not entirely sure if i will keep the, skirt and top separate pieces or sew, them together, two,so here are all the finished costumes, together emily and wes and i had a ton,of fun at our church's trunk or treat, making halloween costumes is super fun i,can't wait to come up with an idea for, next year let me know down in the, comments what you're dressing up as for, halloween this year and i'll see you, next wednesday for another video, any help yeah, okay hand my nails okay hold this, wow, okay,i think you should include cherry bombs, song i think you should blast it when, you ch,i think you should and i think you, should include the clip

How To Make A Tin Man Costume (Wizard of Oz)

How To Make A Tin Man Costume (Wizard of Oz)

you, when you're looking at a cardboard box, you're going to try to find something, that basically fits your frame so the, cardboard box is going to most likely, rest on the top of your shoulders here, and you want it to go down to your waist, here what I did is I found this, cardboard box and I've cut this one up,already but so it looked like this with, with the flaps I cut the flaps out, because this is a big box I'm just, demonstrating so when you hold the, cardboard box up to your shoulders see, that this is big what it's going to look, like like when you get inside the box, okay so instead of doing a square frame,I decided I want it more like the actual, the original Tin Man and I wanted to,make it circular what I did is I cut, this box so that I can get in it and I,can wrap it around like this because, what you're going to want to do is fit, this cardboard box to where it's tight,on your shoulders that you're going to,have to slide this box over the top of,you so the first thing you want to do is,you're going to want to measure of how,far you want this in you want to pretty, snug but not snug enough to where you, can't fit your arms in if you're sliding, over the top that's very first thing, that you do the best way to to make, these boxes conform and make them round,is you're going to have to go through, and bend each crease so it conforms to a,circular shape and so and that's how I,got this as you can tell it's pretty, circular and that's because I went, through an abandoned each crease inward, then what you'll do is you'll just, you'll tape the seam together you can,cut it or whatever you can just take the, seam all the way up okay so this is what, the box looks like after you've made it,round and you've taped it up the side, the next thing that you're going to want,to do is you're going to want to put the,top on okay so you're going to want to,find something that's circular to set, inside, see this this fret perfectly so it came, together just the way that I wanted to,do but I said it and top of this to keep,it circular then what I did is I sit on,top of a square piece of cardboard then,I basically just drew a circle around, the bottom of the cardboard and cut that, out but time we at the top okay then, you're going to want to tape it on and I,taped it on the inside and if you can,see that or not and on top here then, obviously the most important part is,you've got to cut the holes out you're,going to want to put the box on and, figure out where your head rest on this,to the top part of it and you can have, somebody help you with that or as you,put the box over the top of you can kind,of look up and see where your head's,going to go then what you'll do is,you'll just make a small cut and then, you know keep trying and testing to,figure out where you're where you need,to cut through your head will fit, through once I got my head through I,needed to figure out where my arms, rested and so I kind of just put the Box,on to see and kind of feel where my,shoulders would be at so I could cut the, holes right for the shoulders hey then, when I was cutting for the shoulders I,basically just made a cut circle big, enough for my arms to fit through and I,just my almost straight across on the, other side into the other one and then, you're going to want to just throw it on,to see how it fits and then you'll just, cut accordingly yeah so and then I take,as you can see I take around the arm, just because I don't want it to fray or,rip and so it since I've cut that part, and so I just reinforce it with this, tape and sometimes is not easy big, enough okay so the next thing that I,wanted to do is create some arms and I,decided to go with these aluminum ducks, that, you know it kind of gives you I mean, obviously it's metal so it plays the, part really well and so I didn't want to,just do a long sleeve shirt and spray, painted I wanted to look legit so I went, got these aluminum duck they cost about, twelve to thirteen dollars at your local, hardware store what I did is I just I,stuck it on and I measured my arm out, figured out what my fingers were I cut, this with a razor blade slice through, here and put some duct tape around it so,I don't get any metals splinters and and, then up here so I'm it's kind of flexi,so I just bent it and I taped it for my,shoulder so when you stick it on it,should go you know depending on what, size you get it'll go up to your, shoulder now my holes in the box are big, enough for this to fit right into okay,so the next part was trying to figure, out how to keep this from coming in and,out that two holes in the top here that,I'm going to hook a wire hanger through, and so and then I cut two holes in the,box up here so that when it goes on my,arm here the two wires are just going to,loop on the outside and if you want to,get really creative you can create kind,of a shoulder shelf with the cardboard,or you can just leave it I think it,it'll look this fine I'm going to slide, this on and it's going to fit pin it,kind of snug right in the, there and I'm not going to be able to,move a lot so I mean I'll be able to,have enough motion if I need to pick up,a kid I'll have to hold them out like, this,or if I need some candy aisle to say, stick it in my hand there but so you'll,see here is where I'm going to have it,wired to the box that piece of duct tape,is it's going to be reinforced so that,it doesn't pull through the cardboard, like so this would be kind of a and if,you really need to bend your arm you can, bend it indicated in the blood I guess, but that's what you have to do to look, good sometimes you know it's got pretty, good functionality we're off to see the,Wizard The Wonderful Wizard of Oz why I,found some old clothes that I'm going to,use as the rest of my costume the shirt, and pair of pants your shoes and gloves, they've volunteered themselves to be,doused with a little bit of silver spray, paint and I'm also going to spray paint, the body that I created as well as I'm,going to maybe spray-paint the ends of,the the arms or there's some tape whose, before okay so I just got done,spray-painting and everything looks, pretty good except the pants pants, didn't turn out as shiny as I would hope, that they would but take a look at them, see what you think or right now we'll,get one arm done it the other one of the, gloves shoes Fona I got the funnel for a,couple dollars at the hardware store, sure the only thing that's going to be,exposed is the color and maybe the tough, gray paint next body anyways there you, have it now we're just going to let it,dry and maybe put another coat on we'll,see so you do want to use it a good, spray paint one that's going to Co,your clothes so you'd have to go over, multiple times I use this stuff,rust-oleum and 2x ultra cover and that, that seemed to do the trick so as you,can tell from my clothes it covered them, pretty well,so I'm going to look like a shiny metal, tin man okay so I'm just about there, with my costume,I've spray-painted a lot of this stuff, right now I just got done putting, together my ax and I'm just going to,tell you how I did it for the handle, which I created first,I just cut strips using cardboard so,they're just really you know we cut like, five or six strips and then for the axe,you know I just I found some square, pieces that I'd cut out like so just, slap them together around the handle and, just taped a whole bunch of times first,I use duct tape then I use this DuPont,Tyvek tape the stuffs really good so and,I use that you could leave it with the, duct tape because it's the you know the, gray color but I want mine to be a,little bit shinier so I put this this,DuPont tie back tape on the outside so,that I can spray paint over it and give,it more of a shiny look so kind of,matches my costume a little bit better, howdy,so this tin man costume has been a pain,in the butt you know kind of blaze my,own Trail with it and so it's just, taking me a lot longer than I hoped it,would I mean I've easily spent a couple, hours working on it so some of it you, know you have to be a little bit, creative with how you put it all, together it's not so cut and dry on how,you do that but right now I'm making a,bow tie it looks like in the original, ten man he's got kind of a looks like, kind of a bow tie I've cut these these, pieces out of the leftover aluminum duct, and basically I'm going to take this and, make this into a bow tie so I'm just, kind of flattening this out it look like,a bow tie and then what I'm going to do,is I'm going to take the center of it,and I'm going to just kind of smash it,in a little bit too, because I'm basically going to I'm going,to put this in the center I'm going to,kind of come over the top of it,and so I'm going to kind of just smash, this in a little bit to kind of just, make it look like a bowtie and I don't,even know if this is going to look cool,or not but if you want to let me know by,thumbs up in this video and sharing it,you know that would be cool as well so,anyway so basically I'm gonna take this, piece and I'm going to wrap it over the,top of this this one and you know it,doesn't have to be perfect unless you're,like me and you're perfectionist boat I,forgot to mention how is going to attach,my bowtie to my neck fold this flap like,so then what I'm going to do is run this, this gray shulay string around the back,of this I'm going to staple this, shoelace to this aluminum bowtie in the, back and I'm going to pull it up like, this it's going to look like that, and then you're going to take it wrap it,on your neck and I'm wearing a colored, shirt so you know it'll look good but, basically it's going to look like that, okay so I put on the basic part of my,costume I've got my shoes on that I,spray-painted,got my pants I've got my shirt and my,bowtie and now I'm going to put the top, part on the body as well as my arms and,I'm good to go,you, ready to do this Wizard of Oz thing if,if you think of it this looks cool like,it share it I appreciate it,obviously you can take some pieces of,what I've done and create your own, costume with it I did find this antique, oil oil can at my grandma's house and,she let me use it and I spray painted it,silver and with just the hair spray, stuff so it'll wash off but I feel like,I feel pretty authentic so from the, heart looks really okay, signing out Tin Man,this guide to our channel thank you

How to Make a Wizard of Oz Scarecrow Costume

How to Make a Wizard of Oz Scarecrow Costume

so you want to start by getting a pair,of plain brown pants and then just take, some scrap fabric and cut out the, patches most of them are round but, there's a few rectangle ones and then, you just want to lay out where you want, your patches to be on your pants there's,a couple ways to do this one is you can,sew them on I'm using white thread here,so you can see it better on the camera, but you just run your thread through, your patch run it back through and then, you just want to take your needle and, pull that through the end of the thread,to lock it in there and then you'll just, want to go around the patch push your, needle through the pants first so that, you got the nail on the inside and then, you just want to continue on going all,the way around the patch going through, both layers both the pants and the patch, and then you'll come around to the front, you'll go through the pants and the, patch again and you'll just keep going, all the way around the entire patch, going through both layers you want to,make the stitches kind of messy to look, like something that was an old pair of,pants that somebody used for a scarecrow, then the other way to do it is to just, get some of that fusible webbing stuff, and just cut out a patch a little bit, smaller than your fabric patch and then, just take an iron and heat that up and, that will pretty much glue that in place, and so then once you've got them either, ironed on or sewn on here's where I get,all my patches arranged it so then to,put some straw on here just want to put,a little hot glue on the bottom of the, legs and put on some raffia you want to,cut that off short and do that to both, the legs and you'll go all the way, around then I just got a dark green, shirt and I cut the elastic off the, sleeves cut it off the bus leaves and,cut off the elastic off the collar as,well so you end up with a nice flat, collared shirt and so then you want to,cut all the way down not quite in the, center just a little bit off-center and, you'll pull that over to make the, closure and so then to keep it closed, you'll want to take the big button and, just sew that in place on the underside, and then once you've got that sewn in,place just fold the shirt over it just, hold about where the button is feel, where the button is underneath there, make a little cut with a pair of,scissors and then just cut the cut wide, enough so that the button can go up,through it and then you can just push, the button through that and that will, hold it shut and then you'll want to do,the same thing farther down the shirt, with another button you'll do the same, thing just sew the button on and cut it,in the shirt to hold it in place and, then you'll eventually use a piece of,rope to go across the middle as a belt,so you do the sleeves same ways the, pants it's putting a little hot glue, sticking some raffia in it and you, getting go all the way around the, sleeves so here it is with both sleeves, and I'll stuck a little bit of raffia, right in the middle between the two, buttons on the part of the lapel so for,the Hat cut yourself a circle out of,black felt about two feet wide and then, you'll just want to make a cut in it up,to the center and then you'll just fold, that around itself and that will give it,the pointed shape so just glue the edge,of that in place a little bit more hot, glue and you'll have your little cone, for the top of the Hat so then just set, that on some more black felt and then, you just want to cut all the way around, that leaving about two inches around it,to make the brim kind of looks like a,witch hat at this point and then just, trace around it with a white pencil you,can really see it on the camera but get, your scissors in there and just cut out, that line that you just made so you, still have about two inches of brim all,the way around, and then you'll just take your broom and, what you want to do is you want to lay, that all the way around the cone part at,the bottom and you'll just sew it all,the way around and so then when you fold,it back down the seam will be hidden and,it will drape the appropriate way so,here it is once I've got it sewn and,it's still a little bit flat so what I'm,gonna do to fix that is just take a,little bit of hot glue and then just, scrunch the edges together right made, that little hot glue mark I'll probably,do this in a couple places all the way, around I ended up having to do it in,three different places so here's the, second one and here is the third one and, when you do that it just makes the brim, fall down more so that it drapes the way,it did in the movie and some once you've,got that made then you just want to take, scrap of green fabric and you just want,to put a little bit of glue on that and, stick it on the back and then you want,to twist it as you go because you want,to look kind of messy so you just want,to twist the green fabric all the way, around and glue it on in a few different, places until you've got it all the way, around the brim of the scarecrow hat, just like that and so then for the face, part I got some material that's kind of,skin colored not something matches as,close to your skin as you can then you, just cut a little opening out of the, middle for your face so then you end up,kind of looking like a Renaissance, peasant but then you'll use your twine,to go around and then you can also, spirit down the edges to your face if,you want to if you want a tighter fit, then you'll just use some rope to do the, hands and then I painted my nose Brown, with a little bit of homemade face paint, for that painted on look something where, the brain is doing awful lot of talking, there are those see what I mean

DIY Scarecrow costume!

DIY Scarecrow costume!

happy Halloween earth inhabitants and,Wow,I like to get straight to the point, anyway here can I need two different, types of yellow fabrics fabric glue, scissors those are mine but you might, want to get better ones you'll learn why, later on and then a plaid shirt please, sure any kind, all of this was under 20 bucks sure I,got at the thrift store okay so then you, want to go ahead and start by cutting, the fabric in the middle like I said my,scissors were not the best so I did, struggle a little bit but hey you do,what you can with what you got but, probably with better scissors this would, work better mine however we're not, cooperating but still completed it,nevertheless so cut straight through one, fabric, and then go ahead and get the other, color fabric which you could tell, they're both yellow if they're just both, different shades of yellow straighten it,out make sure it's even or lined up as,evenly as it can be and then measure the, length of your sleeve which my own body, and just measure from the button to the, buttonhole because you don't want to,cover the but you don't want to cover, the hole so just measure that range then,go ahead and make a mark and then again, make sure they're lined up I don't know,I did it this way I'm pretty sure, there's easier ways to do this by all, means this is the way I did it and then,go ahead and cut this part apparently, but cut as long as you want the hate of,being I wanted it to be that length so I,just went ahead and cut right through it,in the piece of the shirt short sleeve, length not the whole shirt thing, okay so once you're done cutting in you, want to go ahead and line up the fabrics,as well as you can at some point you, probably won't be able to and then, before you glue it though you might want,to put something under it just in case,so it won't stick I did it on my bed so,I didn't want it to stick to my bedding, and of course test out your glue first, being smarter than me and make sure you, take the tip off the glue I was, wondering why it wasn't working in the,Navy realize I made a mess and then I,also realized that I had to chop off the,tip of the game murdered,go ahead and line up the rest of your, pieces so that you can cut different, pieces different sizes of course they're,not always going to line up so there you,see I cut my different pieces different, lengths different widths and you can see,the two fabrics are finally stuck, together because they're dry so yeah, then you want to make sure you grab your, scissors and cut vertical lines through, them a lot of course once again they're,not going to be even and they're,probably not gonna be straight either, well hey it's Hey,so go ahead and do that same thing all,the way across and there you go it ends,up looking like that I think it looks, pretty cool a lot of people thought it,looked really cool too so here we go and,I did it with some different lengths, different sizes with all that good stuff, and then once you have it all cut up you, want to go ahead and once again measure, the themes only I didn't want it to go,all the way around because first of all,you did it too close I couldn't cover, the hole or the button so let me go and, then you want to go ahead and put the, good fabric glue on to the sleeves and, make sure it sticks I don't know why I,was trying to dry it it wasn't gonna, work,it tries on its own so and then I went, ahead and repeated the same process on,the other skis and the fabric I had for,my shirt was thick so if you are using a,thicker fabric shirt you might want to,move a little faster once you apply the, glue because you don't want the fabric,to absorb the glue before you actually, get to put the fabric the other fabric,on it there's different types of fabric,so then it's not quite dry yet but I,wanted to show you guys what it looked, like so I patted it down make sure it,was nice and in there and all of it home, for me so see once you close it and ends,up looking,so he's he kind of like hey and hey his, pokey so this wasn't poking and then I,went ahead and I got the pocket of my,shirt and they measure me once again, what makes I wanted the fabric to be so,I just measured it like cut it and when, you do this if you do this you want to,make sure that you flip the pocket, inside out of course because we're also, just gonna stick the pocket to itself, and make sure it sticks and go ahead and, leave the pocket inside out or and then,I went ahead and did it to this other, shirt which means my husband's shirt I,did the exact same thing to to his shirt,we were both scarecrows I decided to,make both our costumes same thing with, the pocket but I also did it to his, jeans just the front part of the jeans, you don't need to put it all the way, across just as long as people get the, idea and it looks pretty cool plus the, back of your jeans usually were always, stepping on it so it's better than just, put it in the front and again you put it,on the border put the hay and you want,to put a thicker coat of the fabric glue, because jeans do happen to be a lot, thicker so you want to put it thick and,you want to put it quickly so I had to,go back and add a little bit more glue, because it just wasn't sticking so I,went ahead and did that and then there, you go you put it to the side to dry, once again I also decided last minute to,add it to the bottom of his shirt I mean,he wanted it so whatever and you repeat, the same exact, says he put the fabric glue you measure, first actually you measure the hay on it,and then you go ahead and put the fabric, glue and you stick it on a nice layer of,it and then you go ahead you put the, stick sticks or hay whatever you want to,call it and you Pat it down and you make, sure it's stuck nice and well and then, once you're done with that you put it to,the side and you let it all dry and that,is all to make the costume you will be,seeing a clip very soon of how the end, result looked uh yeah that's how I did,it it took me about an hour hour and a,half in total but yeah anyway here's the,end result pretty soon I hope you guys, enjoyed this video like and subscribe to,my channel and see you guys next time

Making my Halloween Costume w/ my Cats| DIY Dorothy Costume

Making my Halloween Costume w/ my Cats| DIY Dorothy Costume

i feel like i need to get this out of,the way,hey guys what's up and welcome to my,channel my name is miley if you are new, here i do a new diy video every single, week and this week,i could not leave the month of october, without doing a costume video i do a lot,of home decor and interior design videos,on my channel but my actual background,is in costume hair and makeup design and,i used to work in film and television, doing costumes professionally so i love, costumes and halloween even though i'm,always very last minute with my own, costume but this year i knew i wanted to,at least do a couple's costume, with my cats, nope nope nope not my husband my cats my,husband doesn't really like costumes and,my cats well they don't have a choice in,their participation with my shenanigans, but then i had to figure out what, couples costume i wanted to do with my,cats and then i was inspired by my,little girl buddy,so if you've seen any of my previous, videos you might notice bonnie's a,little de-fluffed right now uh she went,to the groomers and she got the, beautiful lions cut so bonnie's gonna be,my lion and i did go ahead and get her a,little lion head, and i got clyde a collar and bow tie, with a hat that i spray painted silver,so he's gonna be my tin man and i'm,dorothy and i am also slightly hoping, that i can get my husband to dress as a,scarecrow and we can take some family, photos,so now i have to make a dorothy costume,i did go ahead and get a few things that,i just did not feel like making myself, one of them is a lovely puffy sleeved, blouse and then i got this awful sparkly, tulle skirt for under my dress so that,it gets a little puff out so the two, things left that i'm going to make are,the dorothy dress and the of course, iconic sparkly red shoes so,i think this is the longest intro i've,ever had let's get started, okay so the first thing that i am going,to make for my dorothy costume is a,circle skirt and this is a super duper, easy skirt to make because it's quite, literally a circle with a cut out circle,in the middle and that's where your, waist goes so to make a circle skirt i'm,gonna make a pattern but you could do,this right on the fabric that you are, using so to make a circle skirt i'm,gonna take my waist measurement gotta, get my waist measurement okay so i'm,gonna use my waist measurement as an,example so my waist measurement is 26,i'm going to divide that by pi so 3.14,and then i'm gonna divide whatever, number you get when you divide by pi,by two and then i'm at a little over, four inches so i'm gonna make sure that, this is nice and, straight here don't run away pencil i,need you,bam let me grab my pencil that rolled, away from me you are going to,mark out, from the corners right here whatever, measurement you got so i'm at a little, over four inches,so i'm going to,circle that around the corner to make a,little quarter circle so then from that, from that this the little line i just, drew,um you then can make your skirt however, long you want it to be i think i want to,look right at my knee wait why does my,pencil keep running away from me i am,going to make my skirt 22 inches long,i'm just going to go around that half, circle and measure 22 inches, down all the way around, boom, okay so now that i've got my line i'm,gonna cut that out, pencil you need to stop running away, from me so now i've got a little quarter, circle bam now it is time to bring in my,fabric so taking my fabric i am going to,put the right side down wrong side right, side i don't think my table's big enough, but we're gonna try so we're going to,trace and go around,so i traced around this half circle and, this is going to be the front of the, skirt i'm going to take that pattern, and i'm going to,flip it over and we are going to,trace the other side with it flipped, over when everything is said and done, this is going to be a half circle, now that i have my half circle all drawn, out i'm gonna cut this out,so now i have the front of my skirt see,how this looks,we have a half circle so now we need to,finish off the circle um where'd that, pencil go i was sitting on my pencil so,now the back of the skirt is just a bit, different instead of taking the pattern, and drawing it out and then flipping it,over like we did for the front of the, skirt i'm just going to cut out two, quarter circles, why do i have the aristocats stuck in my,head, why am i holding scissors in my mouth, that's not safe okay, bam now i no longer need my pattern, anymore but i do need my pencil maybe,i'll put my pencil up here so that i,don't lose it,okay hold on before i move on i have to,pick a new tune because i am sick of,humming this tune from the aristocats, every butt no that's still the, aristocats why am i not singing a song, from the wizard of oz,we're gonna, need that fabric for later so now i have,my front piece i have my back pieces, and now i am going to,sew these all up to make a circle so,everything is pinned out it's now time,to bring in old sheila old sheila is not,my sewing machine i'm borrowing it my,sewing machine big bertha died a slow, painful death because i kept using her,to sew upholstery fabric and leather and,she was never meant to sew that, great,we now have a circle, wow i'm like a floating head and let's,see if it fits cute, she's cute i like her so now that the, skirt is done this dress is practically, done i am not going to make the classic, dorothy costume with an actual bodice, and some thick straps i'm going to,change it up a little bit and make it a,little easier i'm going to make a,overall dress all that's going to be on,the top is kind of like a little flap, with some straps so next up i have to,make a waistband for this skirt so to,make this waistband i'm just going to,cut a big four inch strip that is 28,inches long we're going to bring back in,all of that fabric,28 don't want to lose my pencil and,we're going to put this wrapped around,my neck so that i don't lose that as,well, now we can get rid of this fabric again,so now i have my waistband strip and i'm,just going to pin this down and then sew,it,am i bleeding i'm not bleeding,so i have now attached a waistband, and what i have to do is flip this over, and sew this so that you know the whole, raw edge is encased in the waistband and,to do that you have to do this thing, called stitching in the ditch and i,truly do not know how to explain, stitching in the ditch so i'm going to,find a video and link that down below so,that you guys can learn how to stitch in,the ditch,so my skirt is all done i also went, ahead and sewed in my zipper because i,realized i also don't know how to,explain how to sew in a zipper so i'm,going to link a video down below that, explains specifically how to sew in a,zipper so i'm going to cut two 11 by 11,inch squares pencil,so i have my two squares i'm going to,lay the uh,two right sides together and i'm going,to sew, three sides up sheila what if we do this, boom, sheila you can, move over for right now so i have three, corners sewn i'm gonna flip this inside, out but before i flip this inside out,i'm just gonna cut a little triangle off,the corners so that you get a nice crisp, corner when you flip it inside out then,i'm going to take my scissors and shove, them,in that corner so this is my little, flappy flap is gonna come up and be my,top so slide that on in what's he doing,he's watching you so can i get you to be,a scarecrow for two seconds just like a,cute little cute little nose i'll draw a,little nose on you and it'll be so cute, like a burlap sack over my face sure,i just want a cute little family photo, with our kitties yay,i love you, bring in sheila,i am so close to this dress being done, look at that so cute i had to pop this,on because i don't know how long to make, the straps so two inches we're gonna, have that come up over my shoulder and, then we're gonna have it come down, around to,this side, now i'm gonna hold that bring it forward, what is it 27. okay so i'm gonna cut two, strips at four inches and i'm gonna make, them 32 inches long come on sheila, you're in the way one piece cut gotta, cut one more fabric, get out of here i don't need you anymore, now i'm going to take these strips fold, them in half and i'm going to sew a half,an inch in sheila, one strap down boom go right there do,not move,i'm just gonna flip these inside out,one strap is turned inside out strap two, complete now i just have to pin these in,place and figure out where i have to sew, them crisscross them in the back boom, bam you don't want to mess up the, pinning or else i'm gonna have to do it,all over again, bonnie don't attack the thread i know, you're the best seamstress assistant you, are, sheila get out of here, look at that i have a dorothy dress okay,so this dress for the most part is done,i'm gonna quickly go off camera finish,up the hem i'm gonna hand sew on some, front buttons, and then i'm gonna come back for the, shoes be right back, okay so the dress is all complete and,now it's time to get to the final, component of this costume the red shoes,so you might see that i already have, some sparkly red shoes, these were some red suede shoes that i,had from a wedding i was in several, years ago and my friends and i like to,get together once every other week to do,a craft night and last night we did a,craft night where we were working on our, costumes and i made these but when i got, home and they were finally dry i tried, them on and i remembered how, freaking uncomfortable these shoes were,so today i ran out and got these guys, these are just some cheap knockoff vans,so what i'm gonna do is wear these for, photos and wear these to actually like,go out so what you need to sparklify any, shoes is some glossy mod podge and then, whatever glitter you want to use, obviously i'm using some red glitter i'm,gonna like really like wipe on a lot of,mod podge and i like to work in sections,i don't like to do the whole shoe at,once so i have the whole front half, covered with mod podge i highly, recommend having some like paper down or,something for this because you don't,want to get glitter everywhere and, you're just gonna dump it over the mod, podge, and now we just keep repeating that, process over and over again,i wasn't able to find,a red little sneaker i'm gonna have to,do a few layers of sparkles because, there's just a bit of blue shining, through so while this dries i'm going to,move on to the second shoe, look at these, sparkly sneakers,so now that both shoes are sparklified,i'm going to let these sit for about 20,more minutes and i'm gonna go back in,with some more mod podge sparkles and, keep layering it until i like the way it,looks and then go in with one final, layer of mod podge to complete these, sparkly shoes so i think it is time to,cut to the final costume with my cats, and the moment you all have been waiting, for, look at this dapper man and this very, grumpy lion okay the costumes on my cats, only lasted maybe a minute but it was,the best minute of my life clyde kept, knocking off his hat and well, bonnie just looks like she truly hated, her life in this moment as for my,costume i am super happy with how this, dress turned out and i love the heels, with it but i'm also so happy i went, ahead and made the red sneakers to,change into i hope you liked this video, guys and as always thanks so much for, watching have a happy and safe halloween,i'll see you next week bye guys
