hi everyone its Martha Stewart here at,our Martha Stewart Living headquarters,and what we're doing today is,last-minute ideas for Halloween we have,our friendly skeletal horse,he's very frightening he's a lot of fun,to have did you see his eyes light up,did you see a little bit perfect you put,next to your front door my grandchildren,loved it so I caught one for them home,decorators through the home depot,available frightening horrible just what,you want for Halloween and we have some,really good pumpkin ideas and these are,in the magazine in Martha Stewart Living,magazine in October October issue but I,like the mouse house very much and you,take a real pumpkin you could do it with,an artificial pumpkin too but a real,pumpkin really works very well and make,sure you cut out the bottom and take out,all the seeds and all the other stuff,that's in with the seeds and use the,right tools there are tools or scrapers,like this that's great very nicely to,get all the fibers out of the inside,inside of the pumpkin and get all those,seeds and don't forget to dry the seeds,kids love these these wash them well get,off all the fiber fibers material and,then put them on a parchment-lined,a sheet sprinkle with a little bit of,salt and then roast them very slowly,until they are a little bit hard and,crackly and they're so such good snacks,nice to chew on so once you get this all,cleaned out then you do some drilling we,want holes to hold our mice these are,very sweet little mice some of them,looked a little bit like rats but you,can buy these at craft stores you can,buy them at Tractor Supply I saw a very,nice assortment of mice and other kinds,of animals you can buy them at museum,stores too and they're generally made,out of either an acrylic or a rubber,very lifelike you can also put them in,your children's beds to wake up on,Halloween morning not a very pleasant,feeling paint them all these gorgeous,colors with the Martha Stewart metallic,paints all-purpose paints that are,available at Michael's these are very,nice and we worked hard on getting all,these various metallic colors and have a,battery run a little light like this,you've seen these so you don't have to,have a live candle and we'll get blown,out and then use your electric drill and,I'm sure everyone has one of these now,you should this is an easy release so,that we can put various tips on these a,one and a half inch,tip and now this makes kind of a mess,I'm going to put this over my handle,just to create kind of a-- don't get it,stuck in the blade see how nicely and,easily that does work in your garage not,in your craft room because it's all,fresh pumpkin here and there and,everywhere and use some big ones,and some little ones you can use if you,don't have a drill you could use another,kind of auger like even just this kind,of thing to stick into the pumpkin this,works so fast and so well though he's,staring at me say this works very nicely,and to change just pull this back a,smaller,so much for this oh this is not me,pumpkin was a Swiss cheese that's sort,of the idea any questions do how do you,protect the poles from rotting,oh well don't do this too far in advance,of your Halloween gathering I like to,decorate my whole front gate oh my poor,little miser oops,he's covered with the pumpkin but um but,take a brush and Vaseline works very,well so it is vegetable oil no that's,not the right kind of brush,we just need it we just need a little,brush but I'll show you the idea of it,just a little bit of Vaseline all the,way around the cuts and and that,prevents rotting it really does extend,the life of the pumpkin and cold weather,also helps and do it around the bottom,too so that you,cover up the mess so there you have your,lovely pumpkin and then insert your mice,I'll just do a few of them a little on,here I guess a big mouse in here it can,be sort of sitting in this way yes this,holes are not big enough not for the big,guys so Joseph wants to know can he mark,where he's going to carve or is that,even necessary I don't know if it's,necessary if you're a beginner and and,haven't used one of these drills that,you could you could mark holes but look,how cute these look and you can also,there's a pin excuse me you can also use,a pin to hold the mouse in place like,that there's a little hat pin I would do,it in all the mice just so that they,don't get blown away,but cute very cute,we'll say you see how Harvard wants to,know if you wanted to paint the pumpkin,which do that before or after the holes,oh I would do that after the holes yes,do it after now look beautiful white,pumpkin you don't have to do anything,but just find rubber snakes like this,and paint them silver or gold or and,just make little arrangements of those,on your table anything should be scary,and hideous it's what we want for,Halloween don't we so that's project,number one enjoy making those things,then we have candy projects one of my,favorite things that we have and also,kind of what you feed your friends on,Halloween,oh no let's just show this first let's,show this here's another very cute,little mouse pumpkin with a little mice,and we have cheese minimal latch and,Swiss cheese stick the mice around use,some other pretty gourds or pumpkins,serve crackers and dates and candied,nuts that's a nice thing and serve a,good white wine to your friends I don't,I can't think of anything nicer to give,the adults as they drag their little,kids around the neighborhood with their,candy bags here's another idea for hors,d'oeuvres more different cheeses and,crackers and oh look at these guys these,are so fantastic and these very pretty,little leaf place for individual,servings this is very pretty and very,nice olives too and the candied walnuts,I think anything that looks like this is,appealing to your to your friends and to,your neighbors now back here is another,idea,the children here's one way to display,the treats for the Trix this is one of,our giant skulls available also at home,decorators filled with Hershey's milk,chocolate my very very famous Faye,favorite milk chocolate Reese's peanut,butters Kit Kats,and mixed with all kinds of pirate loot,and you find a dilute anywhere that but,it's the candies my Hershey's that are,really delicious it's great for events,like this trustworthy covered the kids,aren't going to take home a bunch of,unwrapped booty and have it all removed,by mom because these are totally,trustworthy and totally delicious and I,like to give out handfuls and bags full,to the kids because it comes like this,right don't put this out like this you,know why each child will take the entire,bag so make sure you open don't leave it,like this,putting on this one and just briefly,wrinkled these all over your table you,haven't tasted a Reese's Peanut Butter,Cup lately I suggest doing so they're,really good and a nice little snack do,not do not keep them around for yourself,this is for kids and you're watching,your diet okay probably you know do you,hand out candy or let trick-or-treaters,pick their own,oh I let the kids pick their own I think,I think being generous and being,creative like this you can have spooky,scary sounds being played have your wild,horse skeleton like that making noises,but all of this is so much fun to put,all out and look if you use that netting,underneath and more bones and skulls,just spoon around now here's another one,the treasure chest I love a little chest,like this filled with more of the,candies and pirate I'm sure there's,something easy to open a twist,but again closures are good because you,know nobody's been in there I sometimes,just have little brown sandwich bags and,the kids just pokes themselves and fill,their little family size with all their,good treat tic tac,milk chocolate snack size and you don't,have to monitor except your mom and dad,so Kendra wants to know have you ever,given out anything to buy candy oh I,have given out homemade candy apples,those are lots of fun and children love,candy apples like they like what an,apple candy good candy just like this,and always make them new treats to they,love to sing they like to stay a little,poem online and they like to get into,the spirit of Thanksgiving so look at,this over here triggers diamonds and,movies and make sure that you have,enough of everything so that you do not,run out and if your chance to finally do,run out turn off your lights make leave,nobody's home because they're going to,come banging on your door if is going as,Marilyn Monroe I don't know what I'll go,as I'll think of something Amanda wants,to know what do you say when an older,teen shows up looking for candy and,they're not dressed up say them again so,what do you say to an older teen someone,was like 15 years old that shows up to,your door for candy and they're not,dressed in costume well you just have to,say one handful there it's okay whatever,they come as a lot of kids don't like to,get dressed up all they want is that,loot what are the what are the grandkids,dressing up as,I think one's going to be a superhero,and oh what's going to be an onion why,an onion,I have no idea yeah she wants to be an,onion but there's lots of other,wonderful decorations that you can,create the skeleton is always good and,you can save these particular kinds of,decorations year to year and and just,add to them I have thousands of gourds,and pumpkins that I grew in my garden,and those are going to be everywhere and,I put cobwebs in the trees and I put,scary lights here and there and I love,the glittered skulls that are up on the,shelf over here look at these I want our,friend the owl,he's pretty scary and look at these,beautiful these are just styrofoam that,are glittered with our beautiful glitter,and bowls of bones and don't forget,Percy's milk chocolate everywhere just,have these sets for people to grab and,enjoy and serve a good bloody punch and,a and you could even fill rubber gloves,with water and freeze them and then take,the glove off of course and float those,hands in your punch,and we have so many many more ideas the,paints,they're called Martha Stewart's craft,paints these are very fine high quality,paints that are being used not only by,crafters and artisans but also by fine,artists I have a lot of friends who are,pumpkin all over it we have a lot of,friends who who are artists and they,tell me that they they scour the shelves,at Michael's looking for all our new,colors and we have many many colors of,paint is including these fantastic,metallics I love using these paints,they're acrylic washable and long-lived,and they can be on glass on any surface,they're all surface paints and Families,know what are the best pumpkins to carve,the best pumpkins are pretty much,pumpkins that look like this,they're pie pumpkins they have an,uniform thick skin these these old,gnarly warty looking on squash and,gourds are a little bit harder to to,carve and these are very thick fleshed,so they too are a little bit harder to,carve you could do exterior kind of,gouging like wood cuts on these but,these are so easy sugar pumpkins,Big Macs pumpkins those are really great,for carving and we question about the,best way to light the pumpkins from the,inside well to you answer,yeah the best best thing is this little,battery run light that sits right,underneath and that's why we cut out the,bottom of the pumpkin and just set the,pumpkin right over a Qi light like that,of course we always used to when I was,growing up use the candles but they,would blow out in the wind there were a,little bit dangerous if you're having,them right close to your house we don't,want any accidents on Halloween we want,to have a happy Halloween happy and,scary frightening Halloween so you can,see that the treasure chest,you have different chests with a little,ones will give you different sizes or,just one oh you can do whatever size you,have I mean it's just these are just,inexpensive chests that you can find I,have a friend who sends a Christmas,present and a chest every year so I've,saved all her chests and I have those,those boxes filled with my Hershey's,candy,be a lot of candy this year because I,think we're going to have a big turnout,especially because Halloween this year,is on a Monday so because you're back to,school in there and it's a it's a great,day something it's not like come the,word the worst day is isn't what's the,worst day for Halloween,you think Monday is the worst day Sundy,no Sundy Sundy is pretty bad because the,kids have to go to school and I don't,you normally give out candy is it Sun,Goes Down earlier no it's after the Sun,Goes Down I want to only be out there in,the dark so this morning on our Halloween Boonen so,the scariest night of the year is upon,us and if you have not decorated for the,occasion yet it is not too late Martha,Stewart's here to transform your happy,home into a haunted house with ideas,straight from the pages of Martha,Stewart Living Martha good morning,well we looks on the cover that's me is,it it really is I told you I'd blue I,see you can transform your whole,appearance just with contact lenses your,own prescription by the way and I have,them in every color yellow white blue,black you're a fight first thing we're,gonna do we're gonna haunt the house do,we have time to do this before Halloween,tomorrow night most quarters this is,just a piece of muslin you can just pick,it up at the fabric store and a little,bit of organza like cheap nylon again,what we're doing is making silhouettes,in your windows every window in the,house can have this and just put a light,behind them erase any kind of person and,then just paint with black craft paint,right on the inside the silhouette let,it dry and here it is all dried okay,place the organza over so you're,diffusing looks mysterious and then just,make a little slit on the top you can,pin it you can staple it you can sew it,and just put a tension rod and fan,inside the window goes on the inside,it's really great looking this is the,entryway the house last night and my in,my house was decorated we have large,ones of these hanging in the tree okay,how did you make these guys so it's,basically cotton cheesecloth don't get,my boot Hanson at this misfunction okay,so you just put this in your mix of corn,starch one part of corn starch two parts,of water what you're doing is making,hat-making really a starch okay a,starchy and then you just drape this I,made a little ball of stuff right on a,wine bottle drink your wine and start,tinfoil little arms and then drape this,you have to open this up okay I went it,hardens you just drape this over ears,like three or four layers and it kind of,firms up it's fantastic and then it'll,turn out to be this and then this can,come right off the CH in foil look oh,and you have your little freestanding,Tori I love so I have to put on my,little my little yeah go all the way I,can't talk with these cool things so,this is just you know these little,marker pens highlighters,yeah highlighter you take the inside out,you put it in water are you that's a,does,that's all it just with the lights don't,just take a look at how this looks with,the lights yeah look how gorgeous okay,great isn't that phenomenal because this,is not an oil stain things so just it,supervises the kids if they start doing,this but yeah just discus all's and,different colors and the beautiful you,know everybody has these medical days,bring the lights are done now this is so,much fun this is food coloring in the,bottom in water then add a layer slowly,a vegetable oil this is just the,cheapest vegetable oil you're not gonna,ever use it again okay okay and this,stays on top of the water of course is a,lava lamp this is like yes your own lava,lamp oops HR I'm sorry now these are,just effervescent alka-seltzer type,things,yeah a catch acid drop one in drop it in,you'll see what happens it starts to it,starts to bubble and look it's so great,it doesn't bubble over look look at it,here's real quickly what's that brain in,the dog these are all these are all body,parts so,cauliflower in green water this is a,daikon radish this is a fennel penis,this is ginger did yourself Martha and,then I know love candy this is my,favorite mark this segment I'm sorry

and I hope you started to think about,Halloween is just around the corner but,I have lots of good ideas today so if,our facebook live is functioning is it,functioning it's working oh good,I just finished and I'm sorry I finished,already but I finished a beautiful,Indian corn wreath that I'm going to,hang right next to my back door that's,where the kids come for trick or treats,and this is a wreath form you can see on,the back the Indian corn all of which I,grew in my own garden look at these,beautiful colors they're amazing this,year I have such a variety and you never,know what you're going to get you plant,a green kernel of corn and you get a,blue kernel of corn all of these are,just extraordinary and I have more over,there baskets of it but just use the,corn cobs and the corn husks and use a,hot glue gun some about I think it's,about 26 gauge copper wire to wire right,onto the frame and you can put a bow on,here if you like I don't think it even,needs a bow I think it's gonna look,really great don't you it's really,pretty well there these are the seeds,that I have been using year after year I,grow the corn we just take the seeds off,the well it's the cob and we plant them,next year so I've been getting a lot of,odd colors this is more typical of what,you might get as Indian corn if you buy,the seed but these new colors look at,this one it says so many extraordinary,colors and this one really almost like,jewels and then a yellow look so pretty,now you can just cluster them together,like this too and the hanging a cluster,on your door as a as a kind of wreath to,it'll be pretty and so as a welcoming,sign when you're using a hot glue gun,I just want to always give my little,lessons this is a little wax stick hot,glue,always keep a bowl of iced water so that,when you get some glue on your finger,you stick your finger right in the iced,water that way you do not get burned do,not put the wax on your finger in your,mouth because then you'll have a burn,here they all burn here word of caution,and don't let kids do this oh I just let,them dry right in the garden on the,stalk and then we harvest them then we,take them up to the house and we pull,back the pull back the husks as you see,and tie them with a little piece of,twine like that you could probably do,something maybe you can make some masa,out of them if you have a monoamine,metate you know those corn grinders I,haven't really eaten my own my own,decorative corn I use this for,decoration and I do grow lots of good,edible corn though which I don't bother,bother grinding up now this is one of my,favorite things candy apples you can,make a candy a hard candy bringing a,sugar syrup to a hardball stage or you,can make something that's a little bit,more palatable to your teeth a caramel,candy now look at that that is covered,with ground-up or chopped cashews and,that's the caramel this has mold and sea,salt,so that will be very delicious on a,small apple and we have these large,apples and we have two I'll show you how,to make the caramel it's not difficult,you need one and a half cups of sugar,and a heavy-bottomed saucepan,and you need a half a cop and that's a,lot but it's very important to keep the,caramel soft you need a half a cup of,corn syrup late corn syrup 1/2 a cup of,heavy cream and some how much water into,the oh I'm only using the water for,brushing I always mind make my caramel I,usually use a little bit of water but,we're gonna start melting the sugar I'm,going to add a drop of water to the,sugar just to start the sugar from jamil,oh that's flavorful you really want you,I'm putting a little bit of water around,the edge and I don't we will you can see,already that it's starting to melt and,that's to get to the right color of,caramel this is the perfect consistency,oh yes for dipping oh well the candy,down The Hardball a hard stage it's like,keep the sugar syrup chill a very very a,hard crack on the thermometer I'm just,trying to get this to warm up a little,bit and you added some food coloring if,you want red or you could just do it a,caramel color excuse me what oh I'm not,very good,they want me to mention our sponsor M&Ms,but I'm not ready to mention M&Ms yet,that's not what I'm talking about you,could but chocolate gets real messy and,it's and it melts and it's it's a little,bit messy I'm gonna cover the pot now,let the sugar sugar melt nicely now this,is our caramel and I got a little bit,cool that's to be that's that's the,stage oh no this is coming this is good,look it's gonna be perfect you can bring,it here just in case and if you want to,help dip we can dip together but we,don't want this to spill and that looks,good you can dip over here you can just,keep them like overnight,don't make them days in advance if you,wrap them you probably keep them but I,just like to keep them keeps them for,that day I usually make candy apples the,morning of this is just still taking its,time maybe by the time the end our,Facebook live today that sugar will be,melted I'm gonna add my corn syrup now,the trigger so how are you doing oh,you're just dipping I'm just dipping it,geez I took so much time to press on,there look beautiful these have been,dipped in the caramel watch this you dip,and then if you want to be really,finicky you can then apply all your M&Ms,with all the little em sticking out I,have a suggestion for mmm print on both,sides please then we can just put them,on and we don't have to worry about this,but look how cute these are milk,chocolate M&Ms ready for the Halloween,season and they look so cute like this,not hard and and the kids will love,these I love the little apples oh yeah,they're very good energy see oh very,much so cuz the caramel isn't actually,too hot to touch I mean it's a little,warm but they're not gonna get firms,that they would with a sugar syrup but,that's so cute and this is cute too and,my boil that's how the kids would doing,it I know this is gonna caramelize now,and then we have another beautiful,caramel here ready to dip always protect,your countertops this big one so just,put it in here like this and you can of,course and crust with M&Ms my favorite,but you can also just sprinkle with the,beautiful Maldon sea salt this is like a,crystalline salt look how pretty that is,and don't do that over your caramel,because and I'm using a a Silpat one of,these wonderful nonstick silicone pads,that you should all have in your,kitchens for making candies and doing,things like,this now I'm gonna put this around just,on the edge of my caramel caramel on the,Apple it usually starts oh well that's,what used my recipe okay,make sure you have the cream the karo,syrup and bring it to the hardball stage,caramelized look it's just getting to be,the right color now can you see it's,getting to be caramel color a little,darker and it's by adding the cream when,it's the right color you do not you cool,it off enough so it doesn't turn darker,and darker you can turn the black if,you'd let it go too long and then to,clean it off if it does get to that,black stage I was making creme caramel,the other day for a big Mexican fiesta I,had at my house and one of the one of,the molds turned black I just put it in,the sink on a pad and ran cold water and,it dissolves all the sugar so it's not a,total disaster,but this is turning a very nice color,but I want a little bit darker,are you doing I'm doing well when you,take my time and you bake some cashews,on I'll do a large apple with some cash,okay so here this one these are very,nicely and they have to cool off before,you can move them I don't want the salt,to get on everything and the colors of,these M&Ms are so pretty under they are,I like these colors these are unusual,yellow brown rust red okay this is no,it's still not quite dark enough,would use any of their type of fruit for,a dipping you could use peers but you,have to have a hard fruit because you,would as a peach would just fold and it,wouldn't it wouldn't caramelize,correctly you wouldn't you wouldn't you,need that nice skin of the Apple so now,I'm going to pour my cream in and stir,at the same time be very careful when,you're dealing with this stuff it could,erupt over the pan and you just don't,want to get burned with this kind of,very very hot liquid and you put yours,in a bowl the early ones that you,because so this is gonna make a lighter,colored apple I like this one I think,it's better to let them sit out and put,them in the fridge they'll get wet in,the fridge and they'll slide off right,yes unless you're under the hot studio,lights in that case any other question,no well you can buy sticks in the craft,store you can use twigs in my picture,here if I can get the picture coming,avoid the caramel but look I used a real,twig and I think those look really,beautiful but yes because you just cook,the caramel the syrup until it gets to,be the right color and and and when it's,that when it's turning brown it will see,this is a lighter color this has to cool,off a bit before it will coat the Apple,so,patience oh but that's pretty color see,I love this beautiful and this could be,foot I like that I like it when it gets,that on the bottom see then you have,something to really paint off kids like,that too water water water and if it's,not coming out of the pot just put water,in the pot and turn on the heat and let,it boil all the sugar will dissolve it,really does so we can oh that region a,lot and don't forget I think the,favorite from everybody is that Eminem,encrusted this is the this is the,prototype right here,you want your apples to look this good,hmm what do you think Eminem's I think,those are really pretty so over here we,have a whole oh I want to show you the,other Indian corn not a grill this is,more of it and I'm not kidding this all,came from my garden,look how beautiful that one is and the,red of course you saw that already,here's a brown in yellow here's a more,blue one and sometimes you can get all,blue oh this is a cute one choose little,baby one that's really pretty this looks,like just wonderful gems,nature is fantastic so we have a couple,good ideas for the triggers for the,tricksters that come to your door one,thing I'd love to do is now this is the,more common thing I do is I package from,the big packages like this this is,coming out so this is eleven point four,no eleven point four ounces a bag like,that I will package in small little,individual cellophane bags not plastic,bags please use cellophane you can see,what's inside so much nicer and it feels,so good and currently we have a punch,like this in our craft line which is a,maple leaf punch and this is what comes,out of tissue look how pretty all these,different maple leaves you could use,real leaves but you get an artificial,pumpkin like this you can cut off the,top and with decoupage and this is our,beautiful Martha Stewart crafts,decoupage available at Michaels and it,has a matte finish you can apply all,over your pumpkin some of these maple,leaves so you just pick it up like that,and put it on and coat it of course they,have to dry but this is so easy to do,and you can really that's any time you,can really embellish these fun kids,they're called fun kids and you can buy,these in the craft stores too and,I want a brown one here it is look how,pretty does it take to dry,oh now or so but not long it's very very,easy to decoupage and become quickly you,can cover an entire fun kit we have one,already done over here and I've used a,little bit of washi tape you know this,Japanese tape again we have wonderful,colors of washi tape and you just put,this all along the cut edge of the top,and the bottom so you don't see that for,Halloween day but this and then you know,once it dries in a gun decoupage again,with the with the wonderful,decoupage medium because oh here's an,oak leaf oh look how pretty that is you,could do stencil and then with,your special stencil paint which is,really our craft paint all-purpose craft,paint this is a multi-surface satin,paint and it comes in amazing colors put,a little bit in a dish this is called a,pouncer because you pounce that see not,too much it don't need too much paint,and then just stencil like this staying,right on the stencil it's important to,have that stencil taped How to Make Spooky Specimen Jars ⎢Martha Stewart

for your home for this Halloween,specimen jars these look like they came,straight out of a mad scientist's,laboratory they're really easy to make,and your trick-or-treaters will love,them just line these up outside your,front door or inside your drawer where,you ask the trick-or-treaters to come in,and beg for their treats well it's a new,product for me it's a very interesting,product called an end cap so and you use,end caps okay this stuff one to one and,you pour into a container like this and,mix them once more liquidy than the,other,and what you're doing is really making a,solid clear material that will,encapsulate whatever you put in it so,it's very very fun so that's one two one,stir that for five minutes so I'm not,gonna stand here for five minutes so we,unfortunately but we have one cup of,this liquid already and we're going to,be making a rather unattractive sort of,inside of a of a head including teeth,and eyeballs so here we just pour that,in let it set and it has to dry for two,hours that's going to dry so now we have,it dry look at this and if you I need a,little thing if you poke it it's hard,see this is not going down,and so we're going to now put our teeth,these are called billy-bob teeth don't,ask me why but they are five to ten,dollars at the Halloween store all the,all our sources will be on our website,at Martha Stewart calm and so you're,going to now fix the teeth with a little,bit of SIL puck see I would call it,silly poxy but whatever so you put a,little bit on the edge and a little bit,behind all this dries up,lutely clearly and you put this down,like that with a pair of chopsticks,these chopsticks work really well with a,rubber band it makes like a clamp so,that let that just dry again for 15,minutes we already have our dry see,they're not going to fall out and turn,it upside down there they're affixed,very nicely encapsulated and now we pour,another one and third cups so don't just,make one of these make several at the,same time soo so you maximize the use of,your time because every one has to dry,for 15 or 20 minutes or whatever and so,now this has to state for about 15,minutes that will dry and now we have,two eyeballs so see now where the where,it is can you see that it's right above,the teeth and we're going to stick these,eyeballs in with some more silk oxy and,I don't know what we're gonna do with,all these specimen jars any idea Tom,every year we have Halloween and every,year we come up with more and more,elaborate fabulous simple ideas because,this is really simple you just need a,little bit of stuff to do these crazy,things let that dry for 15 minutes and,now pour your final layer up one and a,quarter cups right into the eyeballs and,this should dry overnight when it's,totally dry and you're ready for your,party you can put these little puck,lights these cost five dollars each put,that in the bottom of a little little,sort of tray here,here's your eyeballs and teeth that now,see how the light just comes right up,through that clear encapsulated stuff,and here we have this dry ice this is,the fun part,don't touch this this is not good this,is pure solidified it's a carbon dioxide,our dry ice and then pour a little bit,of water while your party is going on,and just keep refreshing the water and,you see what happens you will have a,very scary interesting display your pans,can be

Halloween Spider Decorations ⎢Rosie Perez⎢Martha Stewart

I thought it would be really fun to make,a creepy crawly spider Oh,what if you put that in your dressing,room would they like it they would love,it yeah they wouldn't ok so it's not so,hard to make this creepy crawly spider,and and it is a fabulous creation made,out of chicken wire a little wood some,electrical tape and plastic garbage bags,so it sounds like fun,and and I thought I'd show Rosie how to,do it want to learn yes this is a little,piece of wood which is really what's,gonna hold the legs of the spider and,we've cut a piece of chicken wire just,plain old chicken wire and we've oh yeah,we plain old chicken wire here store a,hardware store oh oh yeah and even I,think gracious homes even has chicken,wire Oh don't underestimate in New York,New York you can get almost anything,there's a lumberyard at 100 and no 96th,Street and 2nd Avenue or 1st Avenue I,know all the lumber yards I know all,those places you can you can really find,stuff so we're gonna staple this down,and hopefully it will catch you out,there we're missing anyway this is gonna,be where the legs are attached,they're fine finally just keep stapling,this down and on this side shew fold it,up then you tuck this in to make this,round body the legs are made out of this,wonderful armature wire this is 1/8 inch,in diameter it's just plain easily,malleable aluminum wire and we've,covered it with black electrical tape,all available at the hardware store on,96th Street and 2nd Avenue,ok ok so so here is your the body here,is the the skeleton that's actually kind,of a spine and here are the legs so once,you get a leg formed like that we're,going to use these to hold on so you put,your put your leg on there okay my legs,I got my left and then we're going to,just attach this leg with,our little I could do this assassin er,and you just pull this through tight,down there and any excess you're gonna,cut off whereas mice just use a wire,cutter okay yeah good and then clip off,the excess these aren't so handy to have,around you have a lot of drawer full of,these at home right yes fastener it's,good I do because I'm so Kranthi so uh,I'm a lot of a cook than a crafter oh,you are oh that's good yeah well me but,crafting is fun this is fun something,like this to do okay then you turn this,over this is so easy I was a little,intimidated by these and now we are,going to start making the puffy body of,the spider so use a little and we've cut,garbage bags into squares these are like,six inch squares you could use eight,inch squares,yes use your little piece of whatever,whatever no spray first oh this is a,spray adhesive don't breathe it don't,spray it,now take your little squares of black,plastic and just push them down like,that so they stick up like that and,you're going to go through the entire,every single every single hexagon of the,chicken wire is going to have an implant,of plastic yes okay I could do this,y'all could do this oh of course,this is fabulous isn't this fun yes and,I feel fabulous I feel very Martha,Stewart if I don't that's stewardess and,don't miss any little fusspot,okay just put it in there now we have to,make the legs the legs so far have been,this is what it looks like when you've,stuffed it with black plastic bag like,this then you take this nice tinsel,black tinsel and you wrap it around the,arachnids legs and two pieces will do,and do it pretty pretty tightly so it,doesn't fall off I finish the leg and I,love how these look and the heads are,fun to make too Rosie because you're,making them out of just styrofoam balls,and you can start again in the middle,and finish it with the second piece,let's wrap all the way around there very,good so now the the heads themselves are,these balls and you have to draw like a,mouth spiders have kind of large mouths,I know yeah so and then you're going to,just draw it on there so you have a,mouth okay and then use a melon baller,to scoop out the styrofoam so now take,that we've already hollowed the mouth,out make-believe and we've already,glittered with black on the outside red,on the inside and we have these two ruby,eyes and you can use oh that's why the,hot glue gun is here you can use the hot,glue gun to afix the eyes to wherever,you think a spider's eyes belong I was,using glue don't burn yourself okay if I,don't burn yourself you see this little,bowl of ice uh-huh put your finger in,the ice if you burnt your fingers so you,don't put it in your mouth and burn your,mouth okay okay okay so now Oh teeth now,this is clever what would you make teeth,for a spider out of what we're using,we're using nails you're using fake,nails and we've glittered them we've,just put dip them in a little glue and,put a little glitter on them and here,you have sparkly teeth so now just put,them if you want pointy teeth you you,put the flat end in and just stick it,right up into the mouth and you have to,hold it there for a second you just make,a hole first shove it in okay then,that's why they shove the points in,because the flat end does not shove in,very easily so find the pointy end of,the and just push it right in like that,ah lovely,let's see little sucker doesn't want to,go wins,it'll going it is really hard yeah you,got it and and then when you're finished,inserting the teeth you know you have to,not make it look silly not too silly and,here's a head that's already done yeah,looks good so again remember that we,have two nails at the in the spine and,just stick this head on right on the two,nails and then you bend the legs of the,spider make give them an elbow and a,foot and you can make it tall or squat,whichever way you want to make your,spider stand up see how cute
